Joanne Chan’s design sensibility was shaped long before she ever stepped into a studio. Rooted in a Fine Arts education, her practice carries the instinct of an artist; someone who notices the small, human details in everyday life and translates them into spaces that feel deeply considered, intuitively functional, and quietly extraordinary.
As Principal of SDI Design, Joanne leads with a rare balance of imagination and precision. Her work sits at the intersection of creative narrative, workplace strategy, and technical mastery, allowing her to guide projects from early visioning through to the final, impeccably executed details. She thrives in complexity, turning constraints into opportunities and crafting interiors that not only perform beautifully but also resonate emotionally with the people who inhabit them.
Joanne designs with a global lens. A frequent traveler and attentive observer of cultural trends, she absorbs the world around her and filters it into ideas that are both relevant and forward-looking. Her philosophy extends beyond aesthetics, but creating experiences with spaces that respond, support, and inspire. When she’s not immersed in a project, Joanne channels her curiosity into exploring new ventures and disruptive business concepts, always searching for the next idea that will reshape how we live, work, and connect.
