What You Bring to the Table
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an architectural or interior design firm, preferably with a focus on retail, commercial, and/or hospitality projects, including preparing and coordinating construction drawings and documents.
Degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Architectural Design, Interior Design, or a related field (or equivalent foreign qualification).
Knowledge of construction methodology, building assemblies, building science, materials application, and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements.
Ability to interpret the work of consultant disciplines, including structural, mechanical, and electrical.
Familiarity with the Ontario / National Building Code is an asset.
Knowledge of the municipal approval process for planning and building in Toronto and the GTA is an asset.
Familiarity with sustainable building materials and construction practices.
High proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is essential.
Experience with 3D modelling software (e.g., SketchUp) and 3D rendering software (e.g., Enscape, VRay) is an asset.
Strong independent problem-solving skills and a willingness to share knowledge with colleagues are essential.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong organizational skills, including information management, task scheduling, and documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with clients.
Positive mindset and attitude towards work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare comprehensive working drawings, contract documents, and specifications that adhere to industry and company standards using digital drawing techniques as needed.
Develop 3D models using digital modelling techniques as needed.
Produce presentation packages using digital rendering techniques as needed.
Review shop drawings to ensure compliance with design intent.
Utilize effective communication tools (verbal, hand-drawn, and computer-generated) to collaborate with the design studio team, resolve technical issues, maintain quality control, and meet client objectives.
Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines effectively.
Coordinate with external representatives to gather information and devise solutions under the supervision of the project lead and/or design principal.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement and updating of standard details based on construction best practices, lessons learned, and updates to building codes.
Research construction techniques and select appropriate products for construction and finishing details.
General Requirement
Travel may be required, must have a valid driver’s license.
